The gallery section includes all of the Pore Lil Mose images that have been remastered to date. If you click on the image it will take you to a larger version of the print so you can see much more detail. In the larger version you can click on the letter or poem and it will bring up a larger version of the text for an easier read. In addition we have included Artist's Notes with each image. Artist's Notes contain information on what it took to remaster the print, historical facts about the print and its subject matter and just the fun things we have found when working on the image. Artist’s Notes will expand from time to time as we discover addition material about the print and as we play catch up with the first few images that we did. If you are interested in purchasing a Pore Lil Mose limited edition print, or want more information as to price and size of prints click on Sales Info.

Mastodon’s remastered images are NOT images that have been reproduced after being electronically cleaned up and enhanced. Each image was reproduced as close to line by line, pixel by pixel as possible using an original of a print from 1900 - 1902 as a template. The original ink drawing is first recreated and then the image is colored to mimic the original print as much as possible. Click here
The Solution to see an example of how we did it.

When an imaged is remastered from microfilm the colors for the palette and style of administering the colors are based upon what we had done in the prints that we had color example to work from. Our goal is to recreate all prints in the same style so if you placed a print remastered from a color print next to a print remastered from microfilm you will see no difference in the style or colors. This is sometimes very difficult to accomplish and is very time consuming. It is not unusual for it to take well over a hundred hours to remaster a single image.

You will never see a remastered Pore Lil Mose image as a refrigerator magnet, T-shirt or postcard. Images will only be released as signed and numbered limited edition prints. All prints are printed on acid free 100% cotton rag Smooth Fine Art Paper by Crane using Epson’s Pigmented Archival inks which are far more durable and last decades longer than dye-based inks. Laboratory tests results indicate that Mastodon’s Pore Lil Mose prints should remain in pristine condition, fade-free, for over a hundred years if kept out of direct bright light.
